Después de la Fiesta (After The Party) 2017
Exhibition at Galería del Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura de Puebla (IMACP), Mexico
March 16 - May 17, 2017
Mexico

A hangover is basically the biological tax you pay after an epic night out drinking. There's no actual cure, but for most, sleeping through the post-party depression is a good place to start.

The idea for the exhibition emerged from a fictitious conversation between the artist and economists Dr. Luis Pazos and François Roubaud. The installation features a diverse range of media including paper collages, video projections, and an enthralling confetti floor crafted exclusively from outmoded Mexican pesos, strewn across the expanse of the gallery. The visual elements serve to depict the aftermath of a boisterous night out drinking, an experience commonly associated with the biological taxation of a hangover, which can leave one in a state of post-party depression. In this way, the exhibition presents a satirical reflection on the consequences of unrestrained revelry, while recognizing the lack of an actual cure for the physical and emotional repercussions that ensue. Despite the absence of a panacea, the act of slumbering can prove to be an effective starting point in coping with the aftermath of a night of excess.
