Crossings (Travesías)

An action in which the streets of Mexico bearing the names of Latin American countries were crossed as a metaphor for the imaginary borders between them.

According to the United Nations, currently, 33 countries and 15 territories make up Latin America and the Caribbean. To exclude certain countries and other territories in the nomenclatures—interpreted within the context of Latin America’s convoluted geopolitical situation—is representative of deeper social and cultural misapprehensions regarding place-bound identity and belonging.
